Asylum seekers

An asylum seeker is a person who has fled their own country due to war, violence, or persecution and has formally applied for asylum in the UK, awaiting a decision for refugee protection. They face, amongst many others, the following challenges: poverty and financial insecurity; social isolation and stigmatisation; mental health issues, and challenges in accessing crucial services like healthcare and housing.

At Wiltshire Refugee Network, we provide them with bespoke support for their needs and/or refer them to appropriate support services, including: health-related issues; access to education; access to asylum support; contacting or making referrals to immigration advice services; assisting them with contacts to the Home Office; and seeking volunteering opportunities.
